Old Town Square (Rynek Starego Miasta). Warsaw's most important public square in the 18th century. Whether festivities, fairs, or even occasional public executions, the square was the place to be. The buildings that you find in the square were once owned by rich Warsaw merchants. The higher and wider the building, the more wealthy the owner of the building. Today you'll find several fine restaurants on the square's south and west sides including the famous Fukier and Bazyliszek restaurants. You can also try out the horse-drawn carriage (dorozka), and enjoy a romantic tour of the narrow streets Old Town. Sit down in one of the several pubs and order yourself a fine Polish beer or support some of the local artists by buying their work.
